Went to Serre Chevalier a few years back. Really enjoyed as it offers a large number of runs that cater for the intermediate. Advanced skiers will find the lack of steep runs disappointing. However it is a great place to learn to ski. The area around Chantlemerle a great place with lots of interconnecting runs. My family stayed in the resort for one week in February 2005. Skiied all seven days. Thoroughly enjoyed until the last minute of lift operations in almost everyday. This was the first experience of staying right on the slope. We stayed in an apartment, therefore no loss of time for travelling. Me and my husband have just come back from week in La Plagne. It was my first time so I don have too much to compare, but I enjoyed it very much. But my husbands fourth and he was impressed. Endless runs, lots of chairlifts, gondolas. Lots to choose from. We stayed in Terra Nova Hotel (HB)rather family friendly hotel.
