Vaujany is a great ski resort. It is part of the Grandes Rousse ski area which consists of other ski resorts (Alpe dHuez, Auris en Oisans, Villard Reculas and Oz en Oisans). You can either buy the Visalp pass which lets you go everywher from lEversin (1100m) to Pic Blanc (3330m) Or if you prefer or can buy the Vaujany ski pass hih lets you go all the way to the top of Dome des Rouss (2850m) thank to 2 large cable car lifts.By the way Oz en Oisans is next door to Vaujany, IT IS RUBISH!!! Theres no swimming pool, It has 3 ski lifts, 5 slopes and no black runs or snow park!!!

Large ski area Few off-slope amenities

Vaujany is a real alpine village with access to a superb ski area. An amazing variety of runs and mountain restaurants. Off-piste/back country skiing is equally eclectic and much less skied-out than places like Val d'Isere, whilst easily rivalling them in both the easy and challenging categories. we've found it to be one of the most reasonable places price-wise, and people normally very charming and friendly - guess the exception proves the rule. Mountain restaurant tips: try 'Le Petit Truc' for cheap but good sarnies or, just 200m up the hill 'Les Airelles' for authentic mountain food and blazing open fires/hot chocolate to die for etc! 'La Combe Haut' - at the bottom of the Chalvet chair i

Good mountain restaurants Few challenges for experts

I am loathed to tell you about this hidden jewel which we visited in January 08. This place is perfect, it is easily accessible from the airport, the transfer is about 1 1/2 hours. We stayed at Kick Ski chalet Franrick were we could not have been looked after any better, the place was amazing and the staff truly wonderful. Vaujany is a small picturesque Alpine Village, which is almost undiscovered, the runs are amazing, the chair lift system wonderful. The ESF ski school is great with very small classes and perfect English speaking instructors. I hope we can retun next year, my children are counting the days.

Vaujany is wonderful - linked to Alp D'Huez by state of the art lifts. Fantastic range of mountain restaurants with good food and great service. Vaujany is small but well served by discrete escalators to take you up the village levels, a fabulous sports centre with pool and hammam all funded by the hydro electric plant in the valley below which has brought the region great wealth. Highly recommended. Excellent ski school too

Quiet village, pistes nowhere near as crowded as they are in neighbouring Alpe d'Huez. Some great reds (esp.Les Rousses)and a nice black called La Fare that can be a bit tricky when the snow is thin (it goes down to 1100m). There's some safe and relatively gentle off-piste ski-ing through the trees above Montfrais - and some much more challenging stuff off the Dome (2800m). If you want some authentic mountain food try restaurant Passoud (by the Alpette drag lift - half way down the slope) and for the best pizzas in the area go to La Grange (just by the mid station of the big cable car). Vaujany is a superb resort for families.
