First time Boarding and I have to say the Pistes here at Les Arcs were a joy to cruise. Loads of snow and well maintained. Lifts were effective but not fast, and don't use the published lift closure times, go by what's on the lift-cl***s themselves to avoid disappointment. Stayed in 1950, hotel was excellent, loads of room. Not much in the way of nightlife, but apparently 1800 is the way to go. Food and drink was expensive, 6-ish euros for a beer, and some of the restaurants were a bit pricey, but Melli's snack bar was very reasonably priced and the Panini's were great. Use the Spar shop and go self-catering for the most cost effective stay. Transfer to the resort was around 3 hours, althoug

This our second visit to Arcs 1800, and just as good as the first. We had hired, privately, a self catering apartment in Bellecote, adjoining the Golf Hotel, from 18-26Jan 2008. The area had had a huge snowfall the week prior to our arrival, so was extremely well covered, and groomed. On the Tuesday there was a fairly heavy fall, with conditions that we could'nt see our hands in front of our faces, so gave it up and took the finiculare down to Bourg St Maurice, where we walked about for a couple of hours. The village itself has everything one needs, restaurants, pubs, enough to keep one occupied, besides nightclubs, that we did not visit. The locals are friendly, pistes are well prepared, skii

my party went to les arcs just before the season started, to get an idea of what we would be skiing on later on at our next visit. We visited the lower cable car station of the Vanoise express, and wow!! we watched it crash into the station - man was i glad we werent on it - broken necks for sure!! Anyway, having returned in early january, we werent surprised to see the lift closed for the season!! - This has severely restricted the amount of skiing you can do unless you have wheels. The snow was great though, although the attitude of quite a few of the locals left a lot to be desired - hardly a friendly and welcoming place - if you dont stay in one of the top hotels, then facilities are pre

Christmas in Les Arcs 1950 is a real treat. The resort is wedged between the truly awfully looking 2000 and 1800 below, the village has an almost plastic feel about - with music pumped into the streets to accompany your stay, the street entertainment was always accompanied by people on stilts dancing to african / middle eastern music, it was clear that the whole resort was new and not in fact many years old as the buildings portray. There's a great litle bakery open 7am to 7pm with some lovely cakes and pastries. Valentinos was a good place for Italian food. The pistes around the resort gave access in any direction, although novices, early or nervous intermediates will find the blue runs aro

I stayed at the 1950 resort in the Radisson Apartments and it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed at. I'm not much of a ski resort expert, but I have stayed in some very nice places, 1950 would be in the top 3. It is a wonderful, beautiful place with some excellent restaurants. The Spirit 1950 ski and snowboard school were top notch. The people and staff were very friendly and made my stay incredibly enjoyable. Everone in m party had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back in a few months!
