The slopes around and above Arc 1950 and Arc 2000 are very snow-sure. This is partly due to their altitude, but also because the main bowl is sheltered, shady and faces north-east. There is also quick access to the 3200m Aiguille Rouge which has a small glacier. The slopes above Arc 1600 and Arc 1800 are also fairly reliable but face west/north-west and snow quality is more variable, particularly in spring. The runs around Peisey/Vallandry are the first to deteriorate in warmer weather, but do offer lots of tree skiing a

The skiing in Les Arcs is top notch for all abilities. There is plenty of it. The lifts are fast and queues pretty rare. It is also very French you do not hear all the English accents you here in Val dIsere or the 3 vallies. Apres ski is OK. In 1660, my personal favourite of the resorts, their is live music most evenings and a nice atmosphere. It is also the easiest ski resort to get to from the south of England: get on a train in London, get of in Bourg st. Maurice and get the funicular up to the resort. The views of Mount Blanc are fantastic. The main drawback to some people is the architecture. It is either 70s avant guard in 1600, 1800 and 2000 or fake chalets in Valandry or disney in th

One of the worlds best and then I have been to more than 100 ski resorts! It is actually 4 villages (not three) and then linked to another 5 in the La Plagne area. Together forming "Paradiski" with 160 lifts

Amazing snow, amazing pistes, even more amazing extreme off piste. Les Arcs is the best mountain around, it has reliable snow, and later in the season lots of sunny days and the shared apartment accomodation at 1800 makes for a really fun holiday. Skiing wise standing at the top of the Aiguille Rouge and looking down is breath taking, you can chose a groomed piste, you can throw yourself off the edge, whatever you like! In my opinion I think Les Arcs has some of the steepest most challenging pistes in France, the boulder lined chutes leading down to the speed skiing area would be closed permantly if they were any where else, the moguls on the edge of the speed track are as high as they are w

The skiing was great, helped by the sun and snow, and there are plenty of different routes to explore on both sides of the hill. The best runs are on the 1600/1800 side of the hill and up above Vallandry/Plan Peisey but there's a very nice run from Col du Grand Renard to the bottom of the Marmotte lift below 1950. There are lots of fast wide blue and red pistes as well as plenty of mogul covered reds and blacks. The ungroomed pistes are quite fun too, though some of the ungroomed blacks were a bit challenging for most of our group, although none of us are vastly experienced. Cascades is a nice easy run, very good for beginners, below 1950 to start the day with befor heading up to 2000 or ov
