Small, friendly and relaxed, Chateau d'Oex caters for all comers and all ages. The posh crowd stay in nearby Gstaad. Switzerland is never cheap but Chateau d’Oex is the high value option in the area, giving you access to the glitz and facilities of Gstaad at a fraction of the price of staying there. So a holiday choice rather than a tough mountain. Chateau d'Oex has a small, low ski area of its own at La Braye, served by a gondola, a chair and a handful of drags. The toughest…

Great austrian resort, easy access to 320k of piste. 860km on lift pass. Altenmarkt/zauchensee area hosts many world cup events every year. The locals nearly all speak english and are very friendly. Good variety of runs and huge trick park at flachau (linked) Good cheap food at mountain restaurants. A nice alternative for the popular resorts in Austria.

There some fantastic skiing in and around Mayrhofen. If you try Gerlos and Konigsleiten for example there is every chance you will have the piste to yourself outside of main hoilday weeks and like the rest of the Zillertal the lifts are modern and efficient. I have been skiing this area for 19 years now. Try the sledge lodges at Lannersbach in the day or evening.T hey have 5km flood light runs which without doubt are some of the best in the world.
