There are two mountain ranges in Borovets. As you look at the map. the left hand side slopes are very short but they are good for beginers. The other side is pretty much the same but longer and harder terrain, how ever don\'t let that put you off. there are some very nice little jumps for learners to do.
The apres-ski was excellent, whether we wanted a quiet drink or a noisy dance bar, there was something for everyone with bargain prices and constant happy hours. The Bulgarian people were super friendly and would happily find space for our large group. All in all the holiday was spot-on from start to finish and we all had a brilliant time at great value for money.

In general, resort standards are not of the same quality as France or Andorra; however I chose this resort on price so this was to be expected. Piste quality is adequate but not consistent, with lumpy bumpy areas. Many runs are through the forests, the width of a narrow lane with a surprising amount of ice. Better skiing is to be had up from the gondola, be prepared for a ½ hour queue when the lessons start at 10 am and 25 mins up so travel off peak if possible. The place is slightly crap, but I have just had a wonderful holiday.

Well Borovets, the snow was not great and the resort management did not seem willing or able to optimize the slopes at all to make the most of the conditions. This was very frustrating as we had to ski over rock strewn pathways and icy pistes. The hired skis and boots themselves were old and unserviced rubbish. Another major gripe was the poor service and poor quality of the food. The food, generally, is surprisingly awful. It was cheap, but not cheap enough. £4/5 for an inedible burger is not great. In summary, it's a cheap and not that cheerful resort. Blackpool with snow. I really wanted to love it and prove the Alpine snobs wrong. However, it is not a patch on the traditional Alpine

Nice resort but lots of strip clubs which is weird for a family resort. Hotels are a bit basic but overall fine as children enjoyed the pool, bowling etc. However, there was no snow. 90% of the runs were closed and you could see the grass and rocks coming up through the few flakes that were there. The top of the mountain was even worse as the high wind blew all the snow away. I saw just one piste basher in the entire week so not a lot of investment in the facilities which does not bode well for the future.

Just got back from a fantastic week at Borovets (9th - 16th Feb. 2008). I've been skiing since the early 1980s had a short break when the kids were born and returned to it 3 seasons ago, taking my young son with me. I didn't quite know what to expect from Borovets having read so many varying reports. I was pleasantly surprised and find it difficult to relate to some of the negative reviews that appear. We stayed ay the Samokov. Excellent facilities, food very good and plenty of it, rooms o.k. but could do with a little refurbishment. The ski school that I was in was superb, the instructor realised that we were all good skiers and acted basically as a ski guide all week, giving each of us lit
