A lovely resort- quite small, but it did have the feel of a village with a pleasant centre. Stunning views across the valley. Woke to fresh snow on the first day and had a good time exploring the local tree lined red and blue slopes. Pistes were very well groomed and signposting was excellent. The local slopes were nicely varied and pretty, and easy to return to the village by red or gentle blue runs. Enjoyed the Belette and Renard runs from the Derby chair. Easy access to the Arc 1800 and 2000 areas for more challenging stuff. Picnic tables dotted around the slopes were good for slope side lunches, to save on expensive food in cafes (paying 5 euros for a bowl of packet soup was not good!).

Vallandry is great for lower intermediates and above and Les Arcs and La Plagne was easily reached. Would suggest lower intermediates take the Les Arcs/Vallandry pass as there were many easy cruisey blues on the Les Arcs side. Resort itself is quiet but the Mont Blanc bar at the Grizzly chair was good. Transfer from Chambery is a fast 1 and a half hours by mini bus although airport is very small and there were delays with other operators. We flew with flybe - very efficient.

Peisey-Vallandry is a great resort, wide piste, good snow and an army of snow cannons encase not. The view is beautiful the lifts run like clock-work. we were there over Xmas the snow was not great however it was early days. The hardest work for us was choosing to take the chair lift up too Peisey-Vallandry or crossing over to la plagne, we where only 50m away from the lift and as far as i noticed there was no need for a bus or an early mornong hike no matter where you are staying. Les arcs, la plagne who cares prepare for inexpensive luxury ranging from lifts, accomadation, food and the week of your life!!

Excellent piste maintenance No negative aspects!

Plan Peisay is a very nice family resort with a really friendly atmosphere, we were there over Xmas and although there are a handful of nice restaurants that welcome children there really isn’t any wild après. The skiing is great for beginners/intermediates with loads of interesting and challenging blues and reds. The area is connected together by La Foret run which is a very easy path that is enjoyable for absolute beginners but the last bit of the run down into Plan Peisey is quite steep and becomes icy and quite scary for the inexperienced as it gets late in the afternoon. The connections into Arc and Plagne mean that it is a fantastic base for a mixed ability party. I

Vallandry is brilliant - a small resort at 1600 with excellent connections to Les Arcs and La Plagne. Because the resort is at tree level, there are magical tree lined red and blue runs straight back into the resort. The skiing was great, lots of variation and very easy to get from one part to another - the lifts were excellent. You've got red moguls, black moguls, blue 'road' runs through the forests, red runs through the forests, off piste through the trees, snow parks ... you name it this place has it. You'll certainly be spoiled !!! The snow quality was good when we were there (New Year 04/05) but the place was screaming for new snow when we left. My skis were waxed and edged mid wee
