Great skiing at Notre Dame de Bellecombe, this largely unknown resort to UK skiers- much better than Les Houches. Lots of good intermediate skiing on mainly NE facing slopes that preserve the snow well and are quiet with no lift queues. Good link from Praz d'Arly, bit of poling required to get to the Praz d'Arly skiing from NDB. Close i.e. about 30 minute drive from Les Contamines, Megeve, Mont d'Arbois. The great skiing of Megeve Le Jailet accessed from La Giattaz, La Clusaz Areches and even the Chamonix valley. Fabulous scenery with the Mont Blanc, the Tarantaise and the Aravis spectacular from up top. Charming, quite village with all the facilities one requires except nosiy bars.

We stayed in NDB (a party of 18 - from 3year old novices to experienced skiers of 20+years) and had a great time. The snow was just brilliant and plenty of sunshine. The only negative point for us was the lack of telecabins, almost all of the lifts are drags - going right up the mountain ( a good 10 mins!). This was problematic for our boarders and small children who struggled to hang on for so long! However we did some careful planning and used the free navettes to our advantage and managed to ski most of the area. I think we would return - the ski passes are good value and I think this is why!!
