We stayed in Oberlech. I have been to St Anton a few times over the last few years and decided to go with my wife and another couple to Oberlech, as I had always been impressed by Lech etc. I could not beleive how good everything was - the service standards (hotel/restaurants/lift staff/ski instructtors) were the best I have ever experienced in the Alps. The quaility of food everywhere (and in particular our hotel - the Montana) was amazing, and again the best I have ever experienced. Yes, Lech can be quite expensive to stay, but the extra is without doubt worth it. To eat out on the hill is cheaper than anywhere I have been to in France and you get (efficient and friendly) table service inc

We have just returned from a fabulous week (ending 3rd March). The snow is excellent with plenty of powder. However it is a little difficult to ski across to Zurs due mainly to wind and poor visibility. The best of the weather definitely seems to be in Lech. Even St Anton has poor visibility. The resort itself is stunning. It truly is the birthplace of skiing and retains much of its traditional character. We stayed at a the lovely family run Fortuna Guest House and found everything to be perfect. Champagne and fur coats are in evidence everywhere, but it is by no means a stuff resort. A lot of the skiers appear to be slightly older than in other resorts and consequently the slopes are very c

The skiing/boarding round Lech was fantastic though we were very lucky with the snow so early in the season. All runs and lifts were open. The queuing is well mannered and short, the lifts modern and often heated - you can even return downhill in the chairlifts if you are too tired to ski down. The pistes are well groomed and well marked - difficult to get lost. Some of the pistes are areas rather than tracks and have several ways down - check the map! Yes it can be very expensive - never seen so many fur coats and private banks in one place before. Even so, everyone we talked with was very friendly. In summary - expensive but you probably get more than you pay for.

Lech is a top class resort both on and off the slopes. the village is lovely to wander around although very expensive! the whole area is just great though and it usually gets good snow - i went in april 2006 and there was tonnes of the stuff. there are plenty of lifts and the slopes are suitable for most abilities although maybe not for the very first timer. oberlech is a village a bit up the mountain which provides a nice atmosphere and many restaurants.

Went here january 2002. much smaller then we expected and not as pretty either (though of course this is relative as all austria is pretty). we stayed in the gotthard hotel (4*) and thought this was excellent, room, food, service, boot room etc and not far from lifts. the skiing here is very good and even i (a timid intermediate) managed to ski the circular route via zurs. snow was in good condition and what i liked was that there were very few drag lifts and lots of chairs. apre-ski was a bit muted compared to our last holiday which was ischgl but was quite good. one thing that did amuse us was the age of the cliental.
