Last year we visited beautiful Hemsedal, fantastic! The ski resort is extremely sure of great snow conditions and the slopes are great. The ski resort and village are not as luxerious as some of the ski resorts in the alps, but they can definitely compete on after-ski (apres-ski) in Hemsedal! Loved it!

It is a great resort for a short break. Busy resort with the main red runs down to the station in particular being almost unskiable at any speed. Locals acknowledged that a lot of development at the resort in recent years has added to the number of visitors but with no corresponding increase in uplift capacity or runs. Ski school great for the kids with good activities. Good runs throughout the area for teaching them on and the night skiing was a great way of extending our day after putting them to bed! As we had the kids we didn't get chance to sample to apres ski, so cannot comment on the prices, but Norwegian food is more expensive (except the salmon!) and get a new mortgage for the drin

We stayed in Hemsedal over New Years 2007/08. Had an amazing time. The snow was incredible. It was a great change having snow all over the place. Even Oslo airport was covered in snow. I found the skiing very convenient, fun. The red sky sunsets at that time of the year are amazing, you can tell you're closer to the Arctic. The apres-ski was the best I've experienced by a long way(makes St. Anton look boring). The Scando's are big drinkers and know how to party. The drinks are very expensive but we did what the locals do and take alcohol with us to have in the chalet before we go out.
