The resort of Bormio is really nice and wherever you stay you are no more than 10 minutes walk from the gondala. The skiing was amazing, and the snow was still in good condition even in April. I quickly picked up skiing within the first day due to the amazing ski instructors, they are really polite and great teachers. Bormio is great for intermediates. Would really recommend here and i will be looking forward to going back in the future

Having been told to "go skiing or something" because my wife's holiday did not coincide with mine or that of my son, we returned to Bormio this half term. We flew out Monday, skied three days and flew back on Friday. Fabulous. Great weather, superb conditions under the skis, quiet runs and no queues (unless you were at Bormio 2000 when lessons started). Reading about busy resorts elsewhere makes me wonder why people insist on going to the "honey pot" resorts. We booked a B&B over the phone (Meuble della Contea) and had a great few days. Overall cost of travel, lifts, accommodation and food was £70 per day. February 2009 already booked!

Few challenges for experts No waiting at the lifts

Intermediates will enjoy Bormio the most with its long sweeping runs and fast easy routes. Experts have a more limited choice. It is worthwhile visiting neighboring resorts on the Valtellina lift pass. Infrastructure needs improvement. The town is excellent with plenty of apres ski but Kings Disco is a relic from the 70's and is to be avoided. If you like cobbled medieval Italian towns and don't mind a lack of Alpine resort atmosphere, you'll find the center of Bormio very appealing. Will definately go again.
