Tonale is not the prettiest of resorts, but if you can see past this it has lots to offer especially for beginners. A great and reasonably priced ski school (100 euro for 6*2hr lessons) lots of gentle blue runs to build confidence. Reasonably priced apres ski (dont go if you want wild apres ski parties ! The resort had amazing views and equally fantastic snow. Lots to do both on and off of the snow. The resort runs are mainly suited to beginners and intermediates, but there are a good few black runs for people up for a challenge. Ponti Di Legno also offers some good skiing oportunites, and is included in a good value ski pass. Overall a brilliant resort!!!

Whilst Tonale offers lots for the beginner and improver on the wide open mountainside slopes, those wanting more challenging skiing in some nice tree lined runs should use the linked resort areas of Ponte de Legno and Temu which is mostly all reds and blacks. This for me was the best skiing available in resort, the black run from the glacier is also quite good fun as was the initial red at the top of the glacier but Temu and Ponte were better and had charm and character.

The restaurant at the top of Ponte near the T bar lift offers fantastic on piste food at amazingly good value and is well worth the trip over that way alone.

Overall I was very impressed with every aspect of this holid

Passo Tonale is a pretty town, nice and compact, with fair prices and good facilities. It's a resort aimed at families rather than the apres-ski crowd. The bars and clubs were dead as everyone had to go to bed early as the ski school's start at 9am! All in all Passo Tonale is a great value resort - prices are way lower than many other Alpine destinations.

Ok, it's probably good for beginners but anyone with more than week under their belt is going to be dullified by day 2. Yes, it has a glacier, but it takes an age to get to the top of it and once you're there you wonder why you bothered. Apres is ok, but Tonale has a purpose built look about it and has to be one of the ugliest resorts you could ever end up in. Trentino does have some great skiing, but it's either in Madonna or over in the Dolomites. Go to one of them instead.

The skiing was brilliant. After 3 days we were initially bored, but then we discovered the glacier across the valley (we hadn't done our homework!) and the run down to Ponti de legno. It was great for us intermediates, with beautiful fast reds and the odd black just to rein you back in. Our only gripe was that we brought a beginner snowboarder with us as the ski map showed reds all the way down but we encountered an intersection with only black runs off it. He got down it in one though piece and even had a tale to tell! Our local night spot 'El Bait' right next door to the hotel was a great little bar with a good atmosphere. If you like noise (I don't) the umbrella bar 'Banana Bar' on the sl
