Dec 2007 2nd week: Ischgl off-piste skiing rocks and is now on my list of top 2 ski stations in Europe - 5 continuous days of 1-3ft consistent pow. Freshies nearly every run...500m tree lines to carving GS turns in 2ft of powder down classic 1000m big mountain open terrain. And, though usually not a hindrance for accessing the goods, unbelievably NO hiking for our turns the whole week. Our crew of 10 hombres enjoyed the hospitality and service of the Wolf family and staff at the Olympia Hotel - what a great value (Euro70/night x 5 nights for xlnt full buffet breakfast and consistently delicious 4-course dinner; spacious, clean, well appointed rooms, 200m from tram and main village. Having just returned from a week's fantastic skiing at Samnaun / Ischgl, I'd just like to say what a brilliant ski area it is. A brand new Fimbabahn up from the town, no queues at all and great snow accompanied by 6 days of sun-filled skiing. Enough piste and off-piste to satisfy anyone, and stunning views from the new Pardorama restaurant and Trida Sattel. My only grumble is the prices in Samnaun's restaurants are on the steep side - €9.40 for 2 sausages and chips in the Alp Trida is a bit cheeky in my opinion. However, I got the impression there are plenty of people willing to pay it, as well as go into Samnaun Dorf itself and pay €750+ for ski wear...

Echt een geweldig ski oord. Schitterende pistes, zeer goede apres ski. Wel aan de prijs, maar daar krijg je qua sfeer wel wat voor terug. Er zijn drie liften in het dorp die je naar het ski gebied vervoeren. In het hoogseizoen sta je wel een half uur in de rij, maar dat is alleen maar bij de liften van het dorp naar het ski gebied. In het skigebied zelf sta je maximaal 5 minuten in de rij in het hoofdseizoen. De apres ski is top. Restaurants zijn goed. Zo is restaurant la Candela een echte aanrader. Italiaans georienteerd. Dit jaar met twee vrienden voor de eerste maal in Ischgl geweest. En deze ervaringen kan slechts worden omschreven als GEWELDIG. Goed geprepareerde pistes, dankzij enorme aantallen sneeuwkanonnen en een goede diversiteit aan afdalingen in zowel Samnaun als Ischgl. Kwaliteit van de restaurant is tevens goed en de bediening zeer vriendelijk. Qua apresski kom je in Ischgl niets tekort. Hiermee kun je al starten om 15.00 uur in de Paznauner Taja, daarna de dalafdaling en door naar de Schatzi bar onder Hotel Elisabeth. Aangezien deze laatste bar sluit om 19.30 dan maar door naar Niki's Stadl om de hoek, waar Niki vrolijk en enthousiast meebrult met de grootste apres hits en uiteindelijk toch nog

Voor iedere skier is er genoeg keuze, voor de beginnende skier is er rond de idalp genoeg keuze! Voor de betere skier en off piste skier komt helemaal aan zijn trekken in het gebied rond de palinkopf (2864m). Voor de gevorderde skier is er nog beter nieuws want als het een beetje mee zit wordt er een gondelbahn gebouwd naar de piz val gronda. De piz val gronda staat nu vooral bekend bij tourskiers vanwege de heerlijke poeder afdalingen. Aan de kant van Samnaun zijn de pistes voornamelijk blauw en rood. Er zijn mooie tochten te maken in dit skigebied. Het skigebied is ook sneeuwzeker doordat ischgl op 1400 m ligt en Samnaun op 1800m. Het seizoen begint er eind november. De plus punten -veel p
