Having just returned from a long weekend in Foux, I can honestly say that it is my favourite resort in the Southern Alps. The conditions were fantastic after the recent dumps of snow and I skied fresh tracks for 3 days, on a weekend too! There is a vast and varied selection of off piste for those who are keen to explore a little. The pisteurs are helpful and knowledgeable about where the best and safest conditions are. Any bad points? The lifts are slow and the valleys are prone to wind, but the skiing range is excellent for a small resort.

Pra Loup is een erg mooi gebied, ik ben Zwitserland gewend en dan is Frankrijk een verademing! enorm brede pistes en heel veel uitdaging voor de gevorderde skier... De liften, zo viel ons op, zijn wel wat aan de oude kant en er is niet heel veel geinvesteerd in het kaartjes-systeem, wij gebruikten nog grote (onhandige) kaarten. Als je van een drankje en een hapje houd 'savonds raad ik je aan een plekje te zoeken in Pra Loup 1600. Pra Loup 1500, het andere dorp, heeft wel een skilift, maar deze is voor de meeste appartementen niet direct te bereiken, de auto kun je niet kwijt in Pra-Loup 1600 dus je moet met het busje mee, waarin niet altijd plek is. Wij zijn vorig jaar in pra loup geweest, niet zeer bekend dorp maar een aanrader om het eens te proberen, zeker als je goedkoop wilt skien. Het dorp ziet er vrij gezellig uit, alles in de buurt; pistes, kroegen, skiverhuur, restaurants en busjes die je gratis naar de piste brengen. De drankjes etc zijn vrij betaalbaar op de piste en het is een vrij grrot uitgestrekt gebied. Het enige nadeel vonden wij...dat er fransen zijn! Die doen er alles aan om je niet aan het lachen te maken. Maar ach, wij hebben ons prima vermaakt!

The skiing area is quite extensive and offers mainly blue and red pistes. I particularly enjoyed skiing between the trees. Even though I was there in the Christmas holidays, the slopes were not crowded and the queues were short. One thing Praloup lacks for sure is après-ski. In spite of that, I can recommend this resort to anyone who loves skiing and doesnt demand (very) challenging runs.
