Courchevel is divided into 3 areas, at the top 1850, middle 1650 and bottom 1550. Things are more expensive at the top and cheaper at the bottom so take your pick!
1850 has a fantastic ski range and even its own landing strip! Apparently Richard Branson flies in on a regular basis. Pistes are all extremely well groomed and signposted. If you are a beginner, you'll have no problems as they are nice and wide too. If you are going on an exploration day of the 3 valleys, head to Val Thorens, the runs there are fabulous and once there they get even better.
Night life in Courchevel is pricey but if you want to hang out with the people who work there, head to Gringos Pub in 1850 or the Bubble Ba

Courchevel 1850; the finest resort . . ever. Great snow, great mountain & resort restaurants. Fantastic night life. Forget the cost, you only live once. I will be skiing at every available moment this season (flights and work permitting). Why go anywhere else. My advise is always book an instructor. We always book Sam from "ultimate snow sports " he is amazing with the children and always knows where the best snow is and which lifts are going to be quiet. Also being able to use the instructors gates will allow you to get at least a couple of extra runs in. Don't wait, get on the web and get booked.

Absolutely outstanding holiday destination. Buy a 3 Valley lift pass and you need not travel the same slope twice...the ski area is huge. The lifts are great as well, very short queues and very few drag lifts. Be aware that the restaurants on piste are incredibly expensive...about £11 for three cokes!! But go to the sandwich bar opposite the 1850 ski-lifts and buy a cheap filled baguette to take up on the slopes with you and stop for a cheap packed lunch with amazing scenery. Apres Ski, was also great. Very busy and lively atmosphere. Very friendly. Many other good bars too, with live music. Also remember to take advantage of using the pistes going down to Courchevel 1650 and 1550.

As a moderate intermediate skier all I can say is once you've skied Courchevel and the Three Valleys then you'll have been so spoiled that when your mates ask if you fancy a week in somewhere like Bulgaria "cos it's cheap" then you're going to pull a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp! Have stayed in Le Praz several times now and having come back 3 weeks ago have decided to go back for an unscheduled trip in mid March. My advice...avoid first two weeks of Jan while the barmy Russians raise all the bar prices by 100% and give the place a bit of a "heavy" atmosphere and you'll be fine. Fantastic trails over to La Tania, Meribel and Val Thorens with superb and stunning views

Visited Couchevel 1850 on 15 Dec 2007. Fabulous place both on and off piste. We stayed in a Crystal Finest chalet that offered excellent service and ski guides.. Matt, Ben and Alex. As it was the first time for me in the three valleys, I needed a guide to start me off. We managed to get across from Couchevel to Meribel, Mottaret, Les Menuires and Val Thorens all in one day, then back to Couchevel again. Slopes are well maintained and groomed to perfection. Couchevel 1850 has lots of varied terrain and also a snowpark where you can learn to jump. 1850 loses the sun at approx 2pm (early season) so venture over to Meribel after two and get some runs in there before close of play. All the three
