Zakopane reviews

Zakopane has loads of character and is THE place to be seen in Poland in the winter. Hence there are some very nice (and expensive) hotels in the centre of town, but Pensjonats just outside town are mostly good, clean and cheap. There are some lovely bars in town where they often have folk bands playing and vats of hot wine and beer on the counter. The local soups and stews are just what is needed after a day skiing. The slopes are varied. Some good beginners slopes, but not sure if you can get good teaching. The main problem is that all the pistes are spread out and privately owned and as far as I could tell you have to buy a lift pass for each one. So just buy a half day pass and move on.
