I wondered if I should let you in on the secret of La Thuile. Even many adventurous skiers have never heard of it, and that's its beauty. It still hasn't yet been over-run by the hordes so you get the distinct feeling you have it all to yourself. The small town of La Thuile sits at the bottom of a steep climb up to the main pistes. The upper pistes are reached via a gondola and a chair lift. There there are numerous pistes of varying challenges to suit all skills. The scenery is magnificent, lying as it does right under Mont Blanc. The mountain bars and restaurants are excellent. We travelled over to La Rosiere several times. There is one Restaurant half-way down to the town, at the top of &

Don't come, you won't like it! Going for the fifth time soon. No lift queues, a decent variety of pistes, good snow record, no gangs of apres ski drunkards, really quiet, but with 7-8 really good restaurants (if you like Italian food). Oh, and the transfer isn't bad either. If you like killer nightlife, La Thuile is not for you. But If you want to ski and relax after with a beer or wine and have some quality food, book now!

A quiet resort with well cared for pistes. Tremendous views of Monte Bianco, Grand Jorasses and from the highest point, the Matterhorn (Monte Cervino). The journey to La Rossiere is wonderful with great pistes through a sort of no-mans land and sensational views - go early as the Rossiere pistes deteriorate in the sun by mid day. Best pistes are in La Thuile - the snow stays in good condition all day. Be sure to visit the Berthod restaurant on red 28, a superb Himalayan style sanctuary complete with Nepalese rugs and courtesy slippers. In the town, during the weekend evenings, the restaurants become fully booked so book ahead. During the week there is no problem. Aprés-ski is very limited. V

Just back from a week in La Thuile. Nice village, good selection of restaurants and bars. The nightlife is quieter than some resorts, but I went with a large group so we had fun anyway. Good selection of slopes for beginners to advanced. Black no 3 definately worth a try (73% gradient).! woohoo! You can also nip over the French side to La Rossiere. Skiing is nice there too. I fully recommend this resort to anybody, especially families and large groups...you can make your own evening entertainment. I know my group are already planning a return visit to La Thuile. Ciao!

A lovely, quiet resort with efficient lifts and good snow the week we were there. We had a great time. There is a variety of runs, including gentle blues for beginners and some challenging blacks. However, the only runs to the village are red and black, so beginners have to use the gondola. Not much nightlife, avoid this place if you are a raver!
