Im going back to Westendorf in February for the fifth time - I cant recommend it enough. Ive skied in a few other Austrian resorts including the Stubaier Glacier aswell as in Italy. I havent found anywhere with the atmosphere and variety of skiing as Westendorf - hence why Im going back again! Its described as a beginner/intermediate resort, but if youre happy leaving the beaten track and experimenting, theres plenty of awesome off piste. OK, its not up to resorts like Chamonix, but Ive found powder fields and plenty of steep tree-dodge runs. The 111 is perhaps the nicest piste I have ever skied, and I just cant get enough of the Hotel Glockenstuhl - warm family environment, friendly staff (

Westendorf is magical. Our first ski trip so everything was new and we have adopted an uncritical conclusion.Ski facilities are excellent - known for its facilitation of beginners as well as experienced skiers. Reds skischoll was first class, great instructor called Hans Peter (a local guy) for 4 days - adults and teenagers. Very good blue, red and black slopes. Superb lift facilities and options. And this year (Jan 2006) broght the best snows on record. Just our luck for a first time out.We will definitley be going back for more and more. Also stayed in Mesnerwirt hotel right in centre of village with ski facilities within 100 metres - yes 100m. Nice friendly, traditional Tirolean family run

Been to westendorf several times, best beginner/intermediate resort in austria in my honest opinion it has everything you could possibly want.staring from accomodation, ski schools and the slopes. my children learnt to ski here they have been to several resorts all over europe and they still rate this as best yet. the village itself is small, but has many bars and eating places.the bus stops in the town to try your skiing/boarding in soll, ellmau and all the other surrounding resorts which are all covered on the ski welt lift pass, i havent tried the new link yet but will be in january roll on christmas. see you all there.
