A lovely town on a lake with the mountain - the Smittenhoe behind. If you are going independently it is very easy to get to - cheap flight to Salzburg - bus from airport to train station and then direct train (they run every hour) to Zell. It is a great resort for intermediates but the nursery slopes are challenging with several of the blues more like easy reds. The quality of the snow (January 5th) was excellent and we all found that our skiing had improved immensely by the end of the week. Apres ski started at the base of the slopes about 4.30 but by 6.30 most had staggered back to their hotels. Rent your skis from the intersport shop at the gondola station as they also provide lockers and

Been in Zell am See 5 times and love the place, we have taken lots of friends who have loved it here too. not fantastic for the serious skier but great for blues and red cruisers. The town is lovely with some great views and lovely cafes. The glacier although 40 minutes to get there is very well worth the trip providing its clear. All of the mountain resturants are great and the town has some great nghtlife too. we will never get bored of this resort.

Good mountain restaurants Few challenges for experts

Went to Zell week of 8th March. Had a fantastic week's skiing. The resort was great, although was quiet in the evenings. Stayed at the Stadt Wien hotel- what a great place- a short walk from city express- the staff were extreamly helpful. Lifts etc were all well organised and resturants on the run's were very good and cheaper then France- the one at the top of the city express- although you have to wait that bit longer the food is fresh and cooked to order. The town has many great cafe's- a must if you like cake and strudle! Cannot wait to book for next next year and highly recomend the resort for all levels of skiers!

Spent week the week of 15th to 22nd March in Zell am See. Stayed in Hotel Daxer which was excellent – good food, friendly staff, and very convenient to the Schmittenhohe lifts. The new TrassExpress lift is fantastic and there were no queues, meaning we could get to the top of the mountain with virtually no waiting at all. We had plenty of snow during the week, resulting in very good skiing conditions particularly on the upper slopes, with plenty of blue and red runs to keep all the skiers in our group occupied through the week. All in all, an excellent week and would be more than happy to return to Zell again at some stage in the future.

No waiting at the lifts No negative aspects!

Had my best skiing holiday ever, during the first week of February 2008. It was our first time to visit Zell am Zee, and we were very impressed. It's a beautiful area, great town, loads of restaurants and bars, plenty of shopping and facilities, and skiing was great. A lot of the easier blue and red runs are at the top of the mountain, where you can pick and choose which runs suit you. We will definitely return to Zell and Crazy Daisys for apres-ski!!!

Good night life No negative aspects!
