I went to Tignes from 3-10 of April and was amazed with the snow and resort itself. Tignes is not ugly as everybody is saying: pure concrete and stuff. There is no concrete as such, purpose built blocks are covered in wood and white facade and when looked from afar is impressive (those buildings work well with peaks surrounding them). Anyway, with global warming, in order to save space, we will see more of those as the skiing area shrinks. Snow is brilliant; plenty of it everywhere. Not many cannons to be seen there. In Val D'Isere area, closer to the village, it was going a bit sloshed but Tignes was mad with snow. Best skiing in Europe!

What a great way to spend a week ! Party of 5 staying at the Hotel Diva in Val Claret. w/c 14th Jan 2008 Hotel - excellent location right next to the main ski school area and the hub connection to the Tichot, Fresse, Grand Motte Funiculaire lifts. Just a 10 minute walk into the Val Claret town with a number of good bars / restaurants / shops. Food (buffet) can be a little repetitive but on the whole good. Skiing - the only word for it was fantastic. Snow conditions were perfect, pistes well groomed/maintained and incredibly expansive. Fast connections to all areas and Val D'Isere easily reachable. If you are a begginer beware of Santons run which tends to catch people out and slow the less p

Val d'Isere and Tignes (Espace Killy) these are great resorts snow sure, good free bus service, new lifts great off piste, plus many good but expensive restaurants etc I like to get value for mine and my parties money, so here is my recommendations. Le Brasero is a good lunch stop in Tignes (Le Lavachet). It is ideal for mixed ability groups, and non-skiers to meet up for lunch or apres-ski. Ski to the door via Digues a green run with a free chair lift Le Rosset from Le Lac, or use the free bus service that stops outside. After lunch skiers can get on the bus for one stop to catch a lift to the East or West of Tignes, or stay on the same bus to Le Lac or Grand Motte. They also have an extens

Just back from a superb week of skiing in Tignes!! We stayed at the Village Montana Hotel which was perfect. Lovely food, heated outdoor pool and best of all direct access on/off the slopes. The skiing was amazing, plenty of variety and the snow conditions were excellent. Great runs down to Tignes Les Brevieres through the trees. The lift systems were fast and efficient except for one brutal chairlift from Tignes Les Boisses which left some cracking bruises on the back of my legs and proceeded to amble its way up the mountain very very slowly!! Overall, the best skiing experience we have had so far. Would definitely return.

Challenging slopes No negative aspects!
