Wicked snow during Christmas. I am an intermediate snowboarder and loved it. Off-piste was up to my waist and amazing on most runs, red 27 being out of this world for fresh tracks all day long. The night life at Mayrhofen was excellent. New Scotland Yard is a must as well as Mo's and Aproco. If you are a boarder then just go and remember red 27. If you get a lucky dump, you will never forget the super fast floaty powder; it's what dreams are made of.

The town is lovely; very atmospheric in the lead up to Christmas. There was plenty of snow once you took the Penken or the Ahorn lifts up to the slopes. Snowboarders found plenty to occupy themselves for a week. Ski teaching was excellent and there were several nice gentle blue runs for a beginner to enjoy. There were no queues for the lifts out of the village, on several occasions I had a gondola to myself. We went to a different restaurant most nights; the food was very good and the prices reasonable by Austrian standards. Must recommend the restaurant at the Kramerwirt Hotel - so good we just had to visit three times. We will definitely go back to Mayrhofen - as soon as possible!

Mayrhofen has a very relaxed feel about it and everyone we met whilst there was very nice and friendly. The only time that it gets a bit roudy is when snowboming is on, but even then people are well behaved and pleasant. Mayrhofen is very well suited to intermediates and advanced people, there are no greens at the resort. The main lift that is used is the penken lift. This can get quite busy during the morning rush for ski lessons, so it is worthwhile either getting there before 9 or after 10 to miss the rush. However, this said we never experienced the reported hour long ques that we were warned about. If this does occur though, a short bus ride will take you to another gondola which is app

Just back from the Hoff as the locals call it. Lucky enough to catch some fine snow so excellent skiing ! The town is great with a huge ski area - I would recommend it to anyone. The only gripe I have is the much talked about ride up to/down from the ski area. It isn’t ideal but I wouldn’t let it put you off going. If you are early risers, you won’t queue. If you are smart you won’t queue - make use of the other side (Ahorn) - really great 7k red run back to the resort. Use the ski bus to access other points on the mountain rather than the main Penkenbahn lift etc. Once up the mountain, the lifts are excellent with minimal wait times. The famous Hari K

Just returned from 5 days in Mayerhofen, the snow was excellent. Stayed in the Zillertaler Hof Hotel, excellent hotel great food and very friendly staff. The queues at the Penkenbaln lift can be busy but if you avoid 9.00- 10 am there is no problem. Once up the mountain the lift system is great as there is a lot of modern 8 man chairs that whisk you up the mountain with virtually no queues whatsoever. The only drawback is that you can't ski back down the mountain, but we left our skis and boots in ski depot at the bottom of the lift so we didnt have to haul everything back to the hotel that is approx 5 mins from lifts. Apres ski is lively and would go on all night if you so wished. We flew t
