We really enjoyed the blue run 31 from the Vorab gondola station – a wide open motorway of a piste, great confidence builder for timid intermediates and good fun for more advanced intermediates when done quickly ! We also ski-ed across from Vorab on piste 30 to the Nagens/Plaun area above Flims which had some great confidence building blues and reds (piste 30 itself was a bit of a flat wind beaten affair but worth the effort to get to Plaun/Nagens runs. There are also several ‘Freeride’ runs which are basically unpisted reds which are fun for more advanced skiers enjoying moguls ! There is a large snowpark up at Crap Son Gion (best in Europe allegedly) so we did wonder how suited the resort

There are some great runs around Laax and at least two super snowparks near Nagans. If you're riding a snowboard, you should avoid the back of the mountain near Vorab and Fuorcla. When I was there the snow was soft and deep so which is great, but forget crossing from that side to Nagans in those conditions. There are huge flat spots that around Vorab that require a lot of walking and is generally frustrating. I'm used to more boisterous apres ski at the end of the riding day than can be found anywhere in Laax or Flims, but apparently it gets much better at night. I found the apres ski generally boring between 3 and 7. Also, avoid Laax Dorf in the evening - there is just nothing there that I

My favorite thing about Flims Laax is the fact that after you catch the cable cars to the top of Cassons you can weave your way across the interconnected mountains all day then go back to Flims without skiing the same run twice! The skiing is so enjoyable, there are endless long pistes and groomed steep trails. There's not many places you can do that! Of course the entire place is run like clockwork, on the weekends it gets busy but the fast cable cars ensure that crowds disperse quickly. We stayed in Flims and loved the variety of restaurants, we went to Canorta for 3 nights running, it was the best Italian food I've ever had! Apres ski wise I enjoyed the Crap Bar (yes great name - everythi

There's some good skiing at Flims - in the right conditions. It's a relatively low altitude which means that late season visits - like mine last year - will not get the best of it and runs to the valley will be extremely slushy. There are also too many T-bars. That said, the long black run off the back of the little glacier at the top of the resort is superb, and there is some good "yellow run" regulated but ungroomed terrain.

I stayed in Flims over Chrismas and New Year 2006/07 with my wife and 4 year old daughter. The snow wasn't fantasic and at least 50% of runs were closed. However, we all had a fantastic time. The ski school was fantastic with our daughter and still managed to find suitable runs to keep her occupied on her first ski trip. Whilst there was little or no off piste availble, the resort managed the pistes well and used the snow canons whenever the temperature ped sufficiently. In addition to skiing, the resort was well-geared up to other activities. There is a fab indoor skating rink, sleigh rides and all the other attractions that you would expect from a top class resort. We stayed in the Park Ho
