One of the best for us. Our party of 6 (mainly intermediate level) arrived at the resort the day after 90cm of snow had fallen (13/1/08 to 20/1/08). The area itself was great for us: - pistes, so quiet Monday to Friday and I mean quiet, well groomed, mainly red of varied terrain and enough in the 3 valleys (small) to keep you entertained. Only downside was to move across/back and up the mountain you where always reliant on just one lift. - views, fantastic from the top, huge peaks of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc in the distance. - it is worth noting that this is not the place for beginners or young children. - with regards to shops etc we quite liked the size and variety. - apre

Champoluc is a superb resort! Wait, let me rephrase that; Monterosa ski is an astounding ski area! I went for the very nice late season snow. Let me start by getting the one bad thing out of the way: the lack of blue runs. This was a problem for one member of our group who lost her confidence completely. There were two blues on the whole resort of Champoluc, which were accessible only by taking red runs down to some lifts. It does not get much better in Gressoney or Alagna for beginners, but having said that there are excellent ski schools and the red runs aren't that difficult, especially if navigated slowly, and with support of a group.
