Pretty little village! I find this still an expensive ski resort. This is a place for families and not one for the younger crowd. This resort has a great ski schule and the slopes are good for beginners. The slopes are north facing and are across the valley. The lifts are not convenient to the village so you have to take a bus if you are skiing.

The resort is charming, the locals very welcoming, the skiing is varied and challenging and the restaurants serve wonderful food. We have stayed in the Alphof, the Alpbacherhof and the Berghof several times. They are all great. While Alpbach is a tiny resort, with limited runs, it's beautiful, friendly and just 40 minutes transfer from Innsbruck. We felt at home there, and our trip has turned us into ski fanatics. We are already looking to book for next year, and only wish we could fit in another trip this year.

First time skiing in Austria. Our week started with no snow at all as the resort is low lying but later on there was plenty of snow. Most of the runs were reds and my goodness were they steep. I wouldn't say this resort is suitable for the beginner/early intermediate as there was only 2 blue runs open and they were both nervously icy and one was pretty narrow with areas of extreme steepness. Few queues and plenty of seats at lunchtime. I took a private lesson and the instruction was fantastic (Price £50-60 for 2 hours). People having group lessons also found the 2 ski schools really good fun. The village was pretty and quiet. There is only one Spar shop so no shopping or bakery for

If you need a lot of variety in your skiing, then I would not recommend Alpbach, if you need a relaxing holiday with skiing available, then it is an ideal choice. We stayed at the Galtenberg's Hotel. Hotel was outstanding, could not fault it. Gondola was approx. 250 m away and was never busy. Fortunately a few more pistes were opened up midweek, which provided a little more variety, but even so any competent skiier would have covered the area in a day, quite easily. The runs down to the villages were not suitable for beginners as they were all reasonable reds, so access was by gondola back down the mountain. A very pretty resort full of Alpine charm, with i understand a good variety of ski s

Yet again me and my family are back in Alpbach, it becomes twice a year pleasure (Christmas New Year) and half term in February. Each time is just getting better and better, always staying in Alpchof Hotel, great place to relax with very good service, very good food, very nice large rooms and friendly atmosphere (lovely swimming pool). Johann and his staff are doing a fantastic job. Skiing in Alpbach is great, the slopes are fine and well groomed, this February I guess I had the best skiing up to date yet (8 times in last 4 years.) The beauty of the mountains, (skiing on tree line level) makes it more beautiful, snow is always great, but the pistes were just perfect all day long...wish I was
