I can honestly say we love Ellmau! We'd tried several French resorts that specialize in families and kids but found them very regimented and unfriendly, especially towards the kids. The Austrian system is different, the ski schools take the kids all day, including lunch if you want, so they progress very quickly and enjoy whole days out on the Ski Welt, ranging miles from base. Snow is generally plentiful in late January through to the half term dates. Booking at Christmas time and in March can be risky for snow, so check before booking. The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental skiing area, at 280km, is varied enough and large enough to keep most intermediate skiers fully occupied for more tha
